Football Champions!!

Massive Congratulations to our year 5/6 boys football team who won the Shrewsbury High Prep Primary School 6-a-sisde tournament.

The boys played some swift passing football in very windy conditions, the day was topped off with a 1-0 victory over local rivals St Giles.

Well done boys, great start to the season.

KS1 Invasion Games – Champions

On Thursday 5th October six year 2 children went to Shrewsbury Academy to take part in the KS1 Invasion Games.

The game was new to all the children, throughout the afternoon all the children demonstrated our sporting values and were a credit to the school.

We played 5 games and won all 5 making us the champions!

Well done to everyone involved you were amazing.

Miss Turner.

Let’s talk about it! The importance of mindset at Oakmeadow

Today we welcomed a visiting roadshow  called ‘Let’s talk about it!’ all themed around having a positive mindset at school, and ways we can deal with negative thoughts in a calm and relaxed manner.  Some things we learned were:

When things get too much/you are worried/ stressed/don’t know what to do…

STOP and try these coping strategies:

Spending time with family and friends

Deep breathing

Do something you enjoy

Worry control -zap worries

Talking to someone else, or using thumbs up/down (talking without words) when we can’t find the right words to express ourselves.

Ask your children what they learnt from this, and which strategies they think are useful!
